Greenspace SOS Wins Green Business of the Year 2026

7 November 2026

We're incredibly proud to announce that Greenspace SOS has been named Green Business of the Year at the 2026 Vale and Bridgend Business Awards, held on Friday 6 November.

The award recognises businesses that place environmental sustainability at the heart of their operations, making it a particularly meaningful achievement for our team.

Since establishing Greenspace SOS in 2023, we've worked to demonstrate that commercial grounds maintenance and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. From operating battery-powered machinery and improving biodiversity across managed landscapes to developing community gardens, restoring natural spaces and creating opportunities for local people, sustainability is central to what we do.

To receive this recognition alongside so many established and respected businesses is a proud moment for our small team.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way, particularly our staff, volunteers, clients, project partners and the communities we work with.

We're excited to build on this achievement and continue developing Greenspace SOS as a business that delivers quality services while making a positive contribution to the environment and our communities.

Beacon Housing Lawn Establishment Programme Completed

5 November 2026

Greenspace SOS has successfully completed a 12-month lawn establishment programme for Beacon Housing at Llanon, maintaining lawns across 51 newly developed properties.

Lawn failure is a significant challenge on new housing developments, particularly during the first year. Poor establishment and leatherjacket infestations can cause extensive damage, resulting in costly remedial work and dissatisfied residents.

To tackle these challenges, our team delivered 918 scheduled lawn cuts, two seasonal leatherjacket treatments and a planned fertiliser programme, helping establish healthier, more resilient lawns.

The programme has significantly reduced lawn failures, with residents signing off their gardens following completion of the maintenance period.

This follows a previously successful programme of the same nature at Coed Darcy in Neath, also delivered for Beacon Housing.

Together, these projects demonstrate how proactive lawn management can reduce remedial costs, improve resident satisfaction and help housing associations protect their investment in new developments.

From ITEC Trainee to Full-Time Employment

1 August 2026

We're delighted to announce that Rohan, who joined Greenspace SOS through the ITEC Skills training programme, has now become a full-time member of our team.

Since joining us, Rohan has gained valuable practical experience working alongside our team on grounds maintenance, landscaping and community environmental projects across South Wales.

His progression into full-time employment represents an important milestone, not only for Rohan personally, but for Greenspace SOS and our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young people.

As a Community Interest Company, we believe our impact should extend beyond the green spaces we maintain and improve. Providing opportunities to develop skills, build confidence and progress into employment is an important part of what we're working to achieve.

We're proud to have played a part in Rohan's journey and look forward to seeing him continue to develop as a valued member of the team.

Congratulations, Rohan, and welcome aboard!

Supporting Community Volunteers at St Peter's Church, Cockett

5 May 2026

We recently had the pleasure of supporting the volunteers at St Peter's Church in Cockett, Swansea, who dedicate their time to maintaining the church grounds for the local community.

Our team spent time working alongside the volunteers, sharing experiences and exchanging ideas about grounds maintenance. One particularly memorable aspect was seeing different generations working together, with one of our 19-year-old operatives alongside volunteers in their 80s.

During our visit, the group expressed an interest in the quieter, cleaner battery-powered equipment we use, having traditionally relied on petrol machinery.

Following those conversations, we were delighted to return to the church with a new electric lawnmower, strimmer, batteries and additional equipment to help the volunteers continue their work.

It's a small contribution to a group of people who give so much of their time to looking after a valued local space.

We're pleased to have been able to support their efforts and hope the new equipment makes their work a little easier for years to come.
